Queen's Domain is now available on PS5 ($19.99), Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, according to Xbox Wire. The game is a retro action-RPG built around King's Field's first-person perspective and deliberate combat style, avoiding the dodge-roll mechanics of later souls-likes like Dark Souls.
Set on the monster-infested island of Neasied, the adventure begins when the player arrives searching for their missing father. Gameplay centers on challenging exploration and combat, with FromSoftware's original King's Field series serving as the core inspiration. The pacing is intentionally slower, described by Rock Paper Shotgun as a "treacle-thick waltz" of movement and spellcraft.
Progression and mobility are tied directly to equipment. Your sword serves dual purpose as both a weapon and a traversal tool for platforming sections. A key progression unlock is the holy windblade, which grants aerial dashes, unlocking new movement options and areas as you advance. The design philosophy is to make players gradually gain confidence and agility, culminating in the ability to move fluidly through the world.
Queen's Domain releases at £15.99 / $19.99 and is published by Future Friends. The launch marks the continued growth of souls-like games from developers outside FromSoftware.
