According to Nintendo Life and IGN, Groening stated: "I think the original game is coming back in some form." The remark came when he was asked whether there would ever be another Simpsons: Hit & Run game after 23 years of silence.
However, the statement was immediately cast into doubt. As reported by GamesRadar, Matt Selman, showrunner of the animated series, interrupted Groening with an "or not," suggesting the creator may have accidentally revealed information he wasn't supposed to share at that time.
The Simpsons: Hit & Run launched in 2003 by Radical Entertainment and Vivendi Games as an open-world game inspired by Grand Theft Auto. The title has achieved cult status among fans who have been requesting its return for years. According to IGN, licensing hurdles (previously described by producers as a "corporate octopus") have historically blocked any revival.
