Castlevania: Belmont's Curse launched on October 15 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in a partnership between Konami, Evil Empire (the studio behind Dead Cells), and Motion Twin. According to Xbox Wire, it is "a triumphant return from a long-neglected series that stands among the best modern examples of the Metroidvania genre it helped inspire".
However, the PC debut has been marked by technical problems. According to TheGamer, the game received "Mixed" reviews on Steam, with players complaining of frequent freezes, "absurdly bad" performance on Steam Deck, black screens, crashes, a constantly visible mouse cursor, ghost input, and stutters. Some reports indicate the game refuses to launch unless users cap their graphics card settings to 60fps.
PC Gamer also noted technical issues during its testing session, including a conflict with monitors set above 120 Hz and abrupt framerate drops during cutscenes. Despite this, the outlet reported having fun with the title, describing it as improving as it progresses.
The game's Xbox launch appears to be more stable, and the title is available at no additional cost to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on both console and PC through Xbox Play Anywhere.
