Black Ops dev calls out Activision profiting from remasters without creator pay

A developer who worked on Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) and Black Ops 2 (2012) has publicly criticized Activision for profiting from the re-release of those games without compensating the original creators.

According to GameSpot, the Black Ops 1 and 2 remasters released for PlayStation have sold more than 11 million copies combined on PS4 and PS5. In a LinkedIn post, Gavin Goslin, a Treyarch developer who contributed to the original titles, described the situation as "bittersweet," saying the "suits" at Activision are "raking it in" while developers who poured in "blood, sweat, and tears" to build these games receive nothing.

Goslin emphasized that the company is "printing money off of work completed over a decade ago," while the actual creators see no financial return from the sales. He stressed that it's "hard to watch" games he helped create achieve such commercial success without recognition or compensation for him and his team.
