Modern Warfare 4 beta gets new map, mode, and footstep audio tweaks

Infinity Ward has deployed the first substantial update to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's open beta. According to Eurogamer and PC Gamer, the developer responded swiftly to player feedback from the beta's opening days, fine-tuning gameplay mechanics and adding fresh content.

The patch introduces Cachette, a compact 6v6 map set on the outskirts of a French rail terminal where military personnel have repurposed an old mechanics garage and abandoned wine warehouse as an armory. The new mode, called Inflation, operates as a literal cash grab: eliminating enemies during matches rewards players with in-game currency, with victory going to whoever accumulates the most.

On the technical side, footstep audio has been significantly reduced in volume, addressing community complaints from day one. PC Gamer notes the update also rebalances weapon lethality and introduces map voting for multiplayer matches.

Modern Warfare 4's beta continues ahead of the official launch scheduled for October 23, 2026 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Infinity Ward remains focused on gathering player data and feedback before the full release.
