According to Eurogamer, Insomniac Games confirmed that Marvel's Wolverine will be "fully playable" on disc when it launches for PlayStation 5 on September 15. Players who purchase the physical version can complete the entire game without downloading additional content.
Jess Reiner-Reed, senior project director at Insomniac, clarified the detail during a press preview event for the game. The move stands out as a rare exception in a landscape where Sony plans to phase out physical media production by 2028, potentially making Marvel's Wolverine one of the last PlayStation exclusives available entirely on disc.
The game is a single-player, narrative-driven project where players control Logan through story-driven missions, though exploration of side paths is possible. According to IGN, the title includes resource hunts for new suits, combat trials, and narrative moments that explore Wolverine's past, including his time with Team X alongside characters like Sabretooth.
