Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 now available on PS5, Xbox, and PC

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is now available as of August 27 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, according to specialist outlets. The release marks the debut of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots outside PlayStation 3, where it had been confined for nearly 20 years.

The collection comprises three titles: Metal Gear Solid 4 as the centerpiece, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD Collection version), and Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel, the original Game Boy Color release from 2000. Players can purchase each game separately or buy the full collection with exclusive bonuses.

According to PC Gamer, Metal Gear Solid 4 runs well on PC and has earned Steam Deck Verified status. GameSpot reported that the transition to the platform was smooth, though experience may vary depending on hardware configuration. Push Square and other outlets highlight that this is the best technical state Metal Gear Solid 4 has been in since its original release.

The collection launched to positive critical reception. GamesRadar notes that Konami updated some of the game's memorable jokes to work on modern systems, including bringing back the original voice actor for certain lines. Metal Gear Solid 4's meta-humor, filled with PS3-era cultural references, received adjustments to land properly in the current version.
