Star Wars: Magellan cancelled RPG leaks with gameplay footage

Images of the project emerged through the portfolio of an artist who worked on the game. According to IGN, Star Wars: Magellan was a multiplayer title where players could control Jedi or Mandalorians in a looter-shooter world, comparable to Borderlands in style.

Echtra Games, based in San Francisco, was acquired by Zynga in 2021 and shut down in June 2024 without shipping any project following the acquisition. The studio, founded by former Blizzard developers, had released Torchlight 3 in 2020. According to GameSpot, Magellan began development in 2021in partnership with NaturalMotion, which also assisted in production.

As reported by Push Square, the game was never officially announced, and Zynga never publicly confirmed the project. The title was one among several Star Wars games in development, alongside titles like Star Wars Hunters. The leak marks one of the rare instances of an unannounced, cancelled game becoming public knowledge.
