Hidetaka Miyazaki, president of FromSoftware, reassured fans that the studio has not abandoned single-player games. Speaking to IGN, the executive clarified that the sequence of Elden Ring: Nightreign and The Duskbloods as multiplayer projects was merely a coincidence, not a strategic shift.
"It's funny, because there was never really a big plan for these two games to be released close to one another," Miyazaki explained. The studio, historically defined by solo-focused franchises like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, has seen both recent titles pivot toward multiplayer experiences.
The reassurance arrives as The Duskbloods continues testing on Switch 2. Miyazaki also detailed that the game will feature a skill-based matchmaking system designed to separate veterans from newcomers, preventing new players from being overwhelmed by experienced opponents.
The return to single-player solidifies FromSoftware as a versatile studio, balancing its roots in immersive solo narratives with experiments in competitive multiplayer.
