Insomniac has shared details about Marvel's Wolverine through media hands-on sessions, less than a month before release.
According to the PlayStation Blog, the two-hour session began with the opening mission in Telambang, where Logan reunites with Team X to infiltrate anti-mutant industrialist Bolivar Trask's facility. Attendees experienced intense boss fights and explored Madripoor's Lowtown, sampling brutal combat, stealth scouting and rage-fueled takedowns.
Insomniac confirmed to IGN that the X-Men do not exist as a group within the game's story. Instead, Logan is a former member of Team X, which includes characters like Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike. Jean Grey appears in the cast despite the absence of the X-Men franchise proper. The developer frames this as reflecting mutants as outsiders, even within the Marvel universe.
The title will not be an open world but a story-driven adventure moving from one point to the next with optional detours. Players can hunt resources for new suits and participate in combat trials, according to Eurogamer. Insomniac also confirmed that the disc version will be fully playable without additional downloads, potentially making it one of PlayStation's last fully disc-based exclusives.
Marvel's Wolverine releases September 15, exclusively on PS5.
