GTA 6 deliberately avoids direct political references, says Rockstar

Rockstar Games confirmed that GTA 6 deliberately avoids direct political references. According to the studio's writer, the goal is not to recreate "the exact world we live in," leaving room for the fiction and satire that define the series without tying itself to specific contemporary political issues.

While maintaining distance from current politics, GTA 6's development involved extensive field research. In an exclusive interview with Love Magazine, Rockstar team members traveled across Florida, including Miami and surrounding areas, to explore local culture and the settings that would inspire the game. Aaron Garbut, head of development, explained that "every game we make starts with research trips. It's where we get to explore both the place and our ideas as a group."

Expeditions begin with a small group scouting interesting stories and locations, then more team members join subsequent trips to deepen their understanding of culture, people, and landscape. This process allows the studio to capture authentic details of the virtual setting without necessarily reproducing the actual political situation.
