The campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is now available in early access for pre-order customers, and early impressions on PC are overwhelmingly positive. According to GamesRadar, the campaign has reached 94% positive reviews on Steam, significantly ahead of Black Ops 7.
Early access also includes the DMZ extraction mode, Infinity Ward's take on the increasingly popular extraction shooter genre. Push Square reports the title has already accumulated thousands of satisfied reviews on the platform, currently sitting at "Very Positive" rating. Nintendo Life's coverage highlights the tension between the campaign's linear on-rails design and the sandbox approach of DMZ, with both receiving equal billing.
Beyond progression systems, the game also features a YOLO difficulty setting (die once and lose everything) that Eurogamer reports is already available in early access. Some technical issues have been identified, including a DMZ spawning bug that would eliminate players immediately upon drop. According to GamesRadar, patches have already addressed progression issues and overzealous enemy AI behavior.
Modern Warfare 4 launches officially on October 23 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2. The game is currently leading Steam sales during its early access period.
