Saber Interactive has added an artificial intelligence disclosure to the Steam page for Rideshare Stimulator following a public clash between the studio's CEO Matthew Karch and former lead writer Stella Sacco.
According to PC Gamer, the disclosure states the game uses AI for voice generation, localization, and music. Steam players can skip missions with AI-generated narratives if they prefer only human-written content.
The conflict began when Sacco, who worked as lead writer at Saber from July 2023 to July 2024, claimed in a social media post that she was replaced by ChatGPT partway through development. Karch responded by denying the accusation and reaffirming that AI use "can and should help shape gamer experiences," as reported by Rock Paper Shotgun.
The CEO argued, per PC Gamer, that the disclosure was always planned before Sacco breached her confidentiality agreement. Saber maintains that Sacco was reassigned rather than fired, and that the incorporation of AI in certain game elements was a creative direction decision.
