Battlefield 6 launched free access today through August 25 across all platforms. According to GameSpot, the free period accompanies the Season 4 mid-season update, which brings back the fan-favorite Wake Island map and introduces a Top Gun crossover alongside the new Carrier Strike mode and additional maps including Tsuru Reef, Cairo Bazaar, and Hagental Base.
The timing aligns with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's open beta, also running August 21-25, giving players a direct window to try both major FPS franchises. Per Pure Xbox, launching free trial periods during rival franchise betas has become a recurring tactic between the two series.
Modern Warfare 4's beta includes, as reported by Destructoid, multiple modes featuring a single-player campaign mission and access to Warzone's new Resurgence map called Zodiac. Players participating in the beta (with additional dates August 28 through September 1) can unlock free rewards to use when the full game launches on October 23.
