Modder deliberately corrupts popular Total War: Warhammer 3 mod against AI copies

Venris, creator of SFO Grimhammer 3, one of Total War: Warhammer 3's most popular mods, announced he has deliberately corrupted his modification to combat unauthorized reuploads. According to PC Gamer, the mod faced copies created by AI that were reuploaded to the Steam Workshop with AI-generated artwork.

Venris's decision came after the Lords of the End Times expansion made a compatibility update necessary. Submod creators used AI to adapt SFO Grimhammer 3 to the game's version 9.0 and reuploaded it as their own work without permission.

"I do not allow anyone to use my work without authorization. Especially not for AI-related purposes," the modder declared, according to IGN Brasil. In his Patreon statement, Venris warned that if the situation continues to escalate, he will make SFO Grimhammer 3 private.

The case reflects growing tensions in the modding community over the use of artificial intelligence to rework and redistribute third-party work without consent.
