Call of Duty surpasses $40 billion in lifetime revenue

The Call of Duty franchise has surpassed $40 billion in lifetime revenue, according to an announcement by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. The milestone was revealed following the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 23.

According to Xbox, the game ranks among the most celebrated Call of Duty titles in the franchise's 24-year history. Sharma marked the achievement in an official statement: "One of the most celebrated Call of Duty games in its 24-year history, and now $40 billion in lifetime franchise revenue. An incredible milestone. Congrats to the Activision team. And to the players, thank you for being with us."

The franchise debuted in 2003 and has seen annual releases since then. Beyond mainline entries for PC and consoles, Call of Duty expanded into mobile gaming and the battle royale genre with Call of Duty: Warzone, establishing itself as one of the most lucrative franchises in videogame history.
