Game Freak's new action-RPG Beast of Reincarnation, developed in partnership with external studios, is set to launch in early August. According to GameSpot, the game places players in control of protagonist Emma in a post-apocalyptic world where the core mechanic revolves around parrying attacks and counter-attacking with powerful skills.
Game Freak is stepping away from its well-known Pokémon portfolio to explore an entirely different genre. The studio is blending real-time action with the tactical depth of turn-based games, creating a hybrid system that attempts to deliver the best of both worlds.
One highlight mentioned by GameSpot is the deflection sound of the parry mechanic, which compares favorably to FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. For those worried about brutal difficulty, Beast of Reincarnation does not appear to present the same punishing challenge level, offering larger windows to execute defensive parries.
A newly released gameplay video reinforces the imminent launch of the title early next month.
