Undead Labs confirmed that State of Decay 3 will enter closed beta playtests in 2026, as announced on Xbox Wire. The tests expand beyond the alpha playtests already completed and aim to reach more players before the game launches.
The title is scheduled for 2027 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, cloud, Steam, and PlayStation 5. It will be included with Game Pass and supported by Xbox Play Anywhere, letting players access both console and PC versions at no extra cost.
Interested players can register now for a chance to participate in the closed playtests. As development continues, Undead Labs plans to expand the beta to additional platforms and larger player counts leading up to official launch.
The announcement comes weeks after Undead Labs separated from Xbox, a move that had raised questions about the game's future before this confirmation.
