Red Hook Studios has officially revealed The Fire's Edge, the first DLC for Darkest Dungeon since 2020. According to PC Gamer, the expansion arrives on August 18, also marking the 10th anniversary of the original game's 2016 launch.
The expansion introduces two new hero classes: Duelist and Runaway, both inspired by characters from Darkest Dungeon 2 but reimagined for the first game. Per PC Gamer, the Duelist is described as a "complex damage dealer that dances between the party's ranks," while the Runaway brings the new Burn damage type with "high synergy for teams that like to utilize Stuns and Pull/Knockback/Shuffle effects".
Beyond the new classes, The Fire's Edge adds fresh Trinket mechanics and three new districts to the hamlet. The decision to bring content to the original game, even with Darkest Dungeon 2 already released in 2023, follows a broader trend of developers revisiting older titles with expansions, similar to what The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt did with its major expansion in 2025.
The DLC will be available on PC.
