Control Resonant launches with new RPG and melee combat systems

Control Resonant officially launched on September 24 as a significant evolution of the original formula. According to Xbox Wire, the major highlight is the shift to direct melee-action combat, departing from the paranormal gunplay focus of the first Control, which drew from Remedy's lineage with Max Payne and Quantum Break.

Beyond the new combat style, Remedy implemented deep RPG systems that did not appear in previous entries in the series. The developer describes the game as a "combo" of major changes that moves away from established conventions.

The launch comes with largely positive reviews. Rock Paper Shotgun noted that the game runs well on Steam Machine, but fails to run comfortably on Steam Deck as initially promised, requiring more computing power than the handheld can deliver.

The game suffered from a leak one day before its official launch, circulating on Russian piracy forums and joining the list of 2026 titles affected by premature build leaks.
