Ubisoft revealed at Gamescom 2026 a remake of Heroes of Might and Magic 3, a 3D and 4K recreation of the legendary 1999 turn-based strategy game. According to IGN and Rock Paper Shotgun, the remake will include both original expansions (Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death), plus a three-mission prologue designed to onboard new players.
The remake maintains the classic structure of the original, preserving all nine playable factions. Per IGN's hands-on preview, the UI has been modernized from its MS-DOS-era roots while the core gameplay remains faithful. A key feature is full support for custom maps and community-made campaigns from the past 25 years, as confirmed by Rock Paper Shotgun.
The title is scheduled for 2027 and will release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The announcement comes weeks after Ubisoft released the original game's complete edition on Steam, though that launch was marred by missing game files on the initial deployment.
The remake fits Ubisoft's broader effort to revive the franchise: the publisher is also backing Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, the series' first new entry in over a decade.
