Valor Mortis Delays to October to Escape September's Release Avalanche

Confirmed: Valor Mortis, the first-person Soulslike from Ghostrunner developer One More Level, is stepping aside. The game moves from September 24 to October 13—announced just days after the original date was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase.

The crowded calendar is the culprit. With GTA 6 set for November 19, the industry has concentrated an unusual number of releases in the months before the Rockstar juggernaut. September 2026 became so packed that September 24 alone hosts Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword alongside Valor Mortis's original slot.

Blake Rochkind, head of publisher Lyrical Games, said September appeared calm when the date was locked in. That changed fast, and the team chose to give way. "We want to give Valor Mortis (and your wallet) some room to breathe," the studio stated. The game is a Napoleonic fencing Soulslike, now featuring parkour and traversal mechanics shown in an expanded demo.
