Atlus is redesigning how Marie, one of the Velvet Room attendants, is introduced in Persona 4 Revival. According to series producer Kazuhisa Wada in an interview with GamesRadar at Gamescom 2026, the character will be woven into the story much more naturally and obviously than she was in Persona 4 Golden, the expanded PS Vita version of the classic.
In Persona 4 Golden, Marie was not present in the original game, and her retroactive introduction to the story felt forced to many players. Progressing her social link was also essential for accessing certain late-game sections, yet the game didn't make this requirement clear. Wada explains that Atlus learned significantly from Persona 3 Reload and "put all the effort into making a full remake," carrying those lessons directly into this project.
The decision to rework Marie's integration is part of Atlus' broader effort to refine the remake. Unlike Persona 3 Reload, which remade the original Persona 3, Persona 4 Revival is built from Persona 4 Golden as its base. This approach allowed the team to start with existing expanded content and make substantial improvements to narrative structure from the ground up.
Persona 4 Revival is in development for multiple platforms, with no release date confirmed yet.
