Cyan Worlds, the developer behind the 30-year-old Myst series, has announced the cancellation of its new project for the franchise. According to PCGamesN, the prototype called Project Anglerfish will not move forward "for a variety of reasons," as revealed by Development Director Hannah Gamiel in a video posted to Cyan's YouTube channel in July.
A teaser trailer for the cancelled game was released online, offering a visual preview of what the title could have been. According to Eurogamer, the prototype featured a promising visual presentation, though specific details about the project remained limited.
Cyan Worlds has not provided detailed public justification for the cancellation. The company's video, titled "A path not taken: Project Anglerfish," marks the official end of development for the prototype. The Myst series, which began over 30 years ago, remains a landmark reference in the puzzle-adventure genre.
