Meccha Chameleon, an indie hide-and-seek game developed by lemorion_1224, has reached 10 million copies sold since its June 10th release, according to reporting by Eurogamer. The milestone is even more striking considering the title had hit 7 million copies merely five days prior.
The game, available on Steam for $6, centers on a straightforward but addictive mechanic: paint yourself to blend into the environment and evade hunters. It represents an evolution of the classic prop hunt formula, turning camouflage into an art form with hand-painted visuals and colorful maps.
The viral surge has been fueled primarily by social media, particularly through Instagram Reels videos showcasing players devising creative camouflage strategies. The title has gained traction among gaming outlets, with Destructoid highlighting the quality of the experience relative to its accessible price point.
The game features multiplayer support and is available on PC via Steam.
