Ubisoft announced Rainbow Six Tactics during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The game is a turn-based tactics title marking the franchise's first single-player entry in 19 years, since Rainbow Six Vegas 2 in 2008.
According to Xbox Wire, the title arrives on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Push Square confirms a PS5 release. Fifteen playable operators come from Rainbow Six Siege, with the roster including Ash, Montagne, Glaz, Doc, Nook, Smoke, and Sledge. Per PC Gamer, the game is developed by the Mario + Rabbids creators at Ubisoft Paris, with missions centered on tactical combat against fortified terrorists in destructible environments.
In the campaign, players command the Rainbow unit from headquarters, mirroring XCOM Chimera Squad. According to IGN, the game features optional permadeath and Ironman mode at any difficulty. Rock Paper Shotgun notes that destructible environments and reconnaissance drones return from the original series.
PC Gamer reports Rainbow Six Tactics will have zero live-service elements and no in-game store, selling as a single purchase. Launch is planned for 2027.
