Bungie confirmed the timeline for returning removed content to Destiny 2 in a community update. According to head of product Josh Deane, the studio remains in pre-production until January or February 2027, followed by 12 months of full production, with completion targeted for early 2028.
The first phase focuses on restoring removed campaigns: The Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. Bungie also confirmed the return of strikes, raids, and raid lairs from those periods, including Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, and Scourge of the Past. "It's a lot of content," the studio said.
The content restoration announcement followed Bungie's September declaration that Destiny is "foundational to Bungie's future," reversing the earlier decision to end Destiny 2 live service updates in June. Beyond the unvault campaigns, Bungie is also working on additional projects not yet detailed, including cryptic references to a "Destiny Legacy" and a possible new installment.
The studio clarified it will not announce Destiny news at The Game Awards 2026, asking for patience as it works to "bridge" the game's path forward.
