Meccha Chameleon, the viral hide-and-seek phenomenon created by lemorion_1224 and Haganeiro, secured the second-highest PC revenue during June, trailing only Fortnite. The data comes from Newzoo and was shared via GamesIndustry.biz, covering markets in the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy.
According to Newzoo analyst Mert Şahin, the game's massive success "shows that lower-budget, socially driven multiplayer experiences can achieve significant commercial results." The title rounded out the revenue podium alongside Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, and League of Legends.
Meccha Chameleon's explosive growth was fueled by both its financial and technical accessibility, as well as virality on social platforms like YouTube. The game proved that AAA budgets are not necessary to dominate the PC market.
In related news, the developer released update 3.2.0 to address a security incident: custom maps on Steam Workshop contained malware delivery chains, discovered by a Reddit user. The team confirmed the game itself is safe; the problem was isolated to community mods on the platform.
