Christopher Barrett, former director of Marathon, announced he has reached a settlement with Sony and Bungie, closing a protracted legal dispute. Specific terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but Barrett stated he is "very satisfied" with the outcome.
Barrett departed Bungie in spring 2024 following an internal misconduct investigation. According to reports published in August, he faced accusations from several female employees of inappropriate behavior. Barrett disputed this account, arguing instead that he was fired to avoid paying him over $45 million owed under his employment agreement.
As part of the settlement, Barrett's name will be added to Marathon's credits, according to Sony. The former director had spent nearly 25 years at Bungie, where he worked as a designer and director on projects including Halo and Destiny before leading the Marathon reboot.
