Microsoft extends Arkane Lyon deadline and seeks partner for Marvel's Blade

Arkane Lyon has received a reprieve. According to IGN, Microsoft extended the deadline for the studio to find a new owner, pushing it back by one month from its original November date. The extension came after reports indicated the studio had until November 13 to secure a buyer or face closure.

Beyond extending the timeline, Microsoft is exploring an additional option: finding a partner to support the studio during the final stretch of Marvel's Blade development. In a statement to PC Gamer, Microsoft said it was "exploring options, including the search for a partner to support the studio during the development work we have ahead."

Arkane Lyon's predicament stems from Microsoft's summer announcement that it intended to shut down the studio as part of broader cost-cutting measures. However, French law mandated that the company spend at least three months seeking an alternative buyer before proceeding with closure. All 217 employees at Arkane face potential job loss if no buyer emerges.

The Dishonored studio is currently developing Marvel's Blade, a project still in active development. The extended deadline and partnership exploration represent Microsoft's attempt to find a solution that preserves the studio while keeping the game on track.
