Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches Season 1 on November 6. According to the PlayStation Blog, the update brings new maps, modes, events and rewards across both Multiplayer and DMZ, the game's extraction mode.
Highlights include the new X01 map and fresh weaponry with attachments, alongside new Operator Skins, weapon Blueprints and DMZ Survival Kits. The Backstab map arriving with the season is a remake of Burgundy, a classic map from Call of Duty 2 released in 2005, as noted by PC Gamer.
The season also includes gameplay adjustments. According to GamesRadar, Infinity Ward nerfed the Possum ability in DMZ, which had sparked controversy among players for being exploited as a combat mechanic rather than a pure survival tool.
Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23 as a standalone title, marking a strategic shift for Activision. The Call of Duty franchise has reached US$ 40 billion in cumulative revenue since its debut in 2003, as announced by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma.
