Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons reveals first gameplay at Gamescom 2026

Invoke Studios unveiled the first gameplay for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons during Gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live. The footage, running approximately eight minutes, demonstrated the spell-slinging combat mechanics of the third-person action RPG.

In the gameplay reveal, players control Kaatri, a warrior who makes a dangerous pact with witch Tasha to find someone she lost. According to Invoke Studios, the game tasks players with combining forbidden magic, spells, rituals, and otherworldly weapons to "forge paths, create advantages, uncover secrets, and defeat monsters creatively." The demonstration highlighted powerful attacks, traversal mechanics, and Tasha's role as Kaatri's patron and source of power.

The game features a dark fantasy open world inspired by the Dungeons & Dragons universe, emphasizing exploration and dungeon gameplay. Invoke Studios stressed the focus on player exploration and freedom when tackling objectives, rather than linear progression through checklists.

Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2027. The title is published by Wizards of the Coast and was initially revealed via cinematic teaser at The Game Awards 2025.
