Marvel's Wolverine sells 1.9 million copies in three days

Marvel's Wolverine sold 1.9 million copies in its first three days following its September 15 launch, generating approximately $130 million in revenue, according to analysis from Alinea Analytics. The number places Insomniac Games' title above the total revenue Death Stranding 2 accumulated over more than a year on PS5, which reached $129 million with 1.8 million copies sold.

Of the total sold, 1 million units came from digital pre-orders before launch. Physical sales accounted for 22.9% of revenue, a notably high share for a 2026 release. The figures only count units actually sold to consumers and exclude inventory sitting in retail.

The performance is striking given the mixed critical reception Wolverine faced upon launch. Online backlash and memes circulated especially around the "scent trail," a visual navigation aid frequently described as excessive hand-holding. In response, Insomniac released an update reducing the effect's visibility.

According to the analysis, the game ranks as the 6th highest-grossing new PS5 debut in 2026, behind only Resident Evil: Requiem in revenue.
