Onimusha: Way of the Sword remains scheduled for September 25, as confirmed by Capcom during last Thursday's Capcom Spotlight event. The announcement puts to rest speculation that had circulated in recent weeks, when a renewed retail listing sparked rumors the game would launch three weeks earlier on September 4.
During the presentation, the developer unveiled fresh gameplay footage highlighting more advanced combat mechanics. A new trailer introduced Dohatsu-ten, a boss-type enemy that emerges from a mysterious portal. The creature features a humanoid design that transforms throughout the encounter and is described as swift and challenging.
The new material addressed player feedback that the game's demo felt too easy, showcasing deeper layers of the combat system. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is expected on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
