Rockstar union vote scheduled during GTA 6 console launch

The vote on IWGB (Independent Workers of Great Britain) union recognition at Rockstar Games is set for November 12 to 26, the organization announced. The voting window overlaps with GTA 6's PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X release on November 19, when pre-loading for the title also begins.

If approved, the IWGB Rockstar Game Workers Union will become the largest recognized union in the UK video games industry. According to the sources, recognition terms have been negotiated between the union and Rockstar management since July.

The union seeks a voice on pay and bonuses, overtime, redundancies, flexible working arrangements, and generative AI policies. Unionization efforts at Rockstar predate this vote, gaining prominence in October 2025 when the studio fired 31 employees in what the IWGB described as "the most brazen act of union busting the games industry has ever seen".
