Epic Games Store launched on Brazilian iPhones on Thursday (30), the company confirmed officially. The release followed an agreement between Apple and Brazil's CADE (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) that unlocked third-party app stores on iOS in the country.
With the store now available on iOS, Brazilian players can officially download Fortnite and Rocket League Sideswipe directly on their iPhones. According to Adrenaline, Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, stated that the launch did not happen under ideal conditions. Apple's restrictions complicate the installation process and limit the presence of third-party creations on the platform.
The dispute between Epic Games and Apple remains active in court. Despite the agreement enabling the store's arrival on Brazilian iOS, technical constraints imposed by Apple continue to present operational challenges to the alternative platform.
The launch marks a milestone in access to alternative stores on Apple devices in Brazil, though within limitations negotiated between the parties.
