Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition officially launches on Nintendo Switch 2 this week, on August 28, 2026. According to Nintendo Life, the port received a 9/10 score, being called "one of the finest games you can currently play in the Switch 2 library."
Eurogamer tested the version and reported that the game runs better than expected on the Nintendo hybrid, though it has graphical compromises compared to other platforms. GameSpot also confirmed the port is "a surprisingly good one," with a consistent frame rate after months of optimization following performance issues found in closed tests during 2025.
Alongside the launch, FromSoftware is releasing patch 1.17 on August 28, accompanied by the paid Tarnished Pack DLC. The content adds two new starting classes (Idus Knight and Heavy Knight), three cosmetic skins for the mount Torrent, NPC invasion events in Caelid and Leyndell, and purchasable items from merchants. The free patch across all platforms includes balance adjustments to various weapons and improvements to items from the Realm of Shadow.
This marks the first time the award-winning title arrives on Switch 2 following its April 2025 Direct announcement, completing the game's multi-platform rollout.
