Halo: Campaign Evolved launches today on Xbox, PC, and PS5

Halo: Campaign Evolved is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, according to Xbox Wire. The remake of the 2001 classic uses Unreal Engine 5 and arrives directly into Xbox Game Pass.

This marks a historic moment for the franchise. It is the first time in 25 years that a Halo game launches simultaneously on PlayStation, solidifying Xbox's strategy to expand its titles beyond its own hardware. Polygon and Push Square confirm the game is running on PS5 since launch.

As reported by Pure Xbox, the Standard Edition arrived following a paid early access period. The game includes an original prologue featuring three new missions developed by Halo Studios (rebranded from 343 Industries in 2024), along with a free set of special Master Chief skins for players.

The remake features 39 skulls (collectibles that unlock difficulty modifiers) and 13 terminals scattered across the game's 13 missions, as detailed by GamesRadar and IGN. The PC version is receiving praise for its visual quality on high-end machines, but IGN cautions that the game "struggles to scale to lower-end and older hardware."

The franchise remains a priority for Microsoft after two decades as an Xbox exclusive.
