Pragmata, Capcom's new sci-fi IP launched just months ago, faced particularly harsh internal criticism during its development cycle. According to developer accounts shared in a recent livestream, the publisher described the project as "deeply disappointed" in early evaluations, with feedback including comments that the team was "incompetent at level design" and "unable to make compelling puzzles".
Development of the title began in 2019 under direction from Capcom head Jun Takeuchi. Production stretched across several years before culminating in a release that proved the initial criticism would not define the final product. Today, Pragmata has won over critics and players alike, cementing itself as one of the year's most acclaimed titles.
The success proved so significant that Capcom is already exploring the possibility of developing Pragmata as a series, as the publisher has confirmed. The game marks the beginning of a strong period for the company, which also shipped Resident Evil: Requiem in 2026, delivering two major new releases to audiences in the same window.
