Nine Dots Studio has announced a delay for Outward 2, its survival RPG. Originally scheduled for Early Access on July 7, 2026 across Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, the game is now expected in 2027 with no specific release date announced yet.
According to Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, CEO and creative director of Nine Dots Studio, the decision came after feedback from players who participated in the open beta. Boucher-Vidal explained that sticking to the original plan would have meant delivering a subpar product: "If we just stick to the plan stubbornly, we're delivering a product that might not satisfy you."
The game had been in open beta since June 2024 and featured a trailer released in May inviting players to explore the world of Aurai. The delay reflects the studio's commitment to quality despite the impact on the previously announced timeline.
