Santa Monica Studio confirmed that God of War Laufey will launch on physical disc for PS5. The announcement came in response to fan concerns on social media following Sony's decision to end production of physical PlayStation game discs in January 2028.
The confirmation of a disc version strongly suggests the game will arrive in 2027, allowing it to meet Sony's established deadline before production stops. The studio responded to an influx of complaints triggered by posts about God of War Laufey's panel at San Diego Comic-Con, scheduled for late July.
Beyond God of War Laufey, Sony confirmed that Marvel's Wolverine and Marvel Tokon will also appear at Comic-Con 2026. Both Marvel titles' panels are set for July 23, with promises of new reveals and announcements.
