Amid announcements of cuts and cancellations across Xbox, OD, the horror game being developed by Hideo Kojima in partnership with Microsoft, will remain in active development. According to IGN's reporting, a source familiar with Microsoft's plans confirmed that the title continues to be created at Kojima Productions and will be published by the company.
The game was announced during an Xbox showcase in June 2022 and features performances by actors Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier, with creative collaboration from director Jordan Peele. Since its announcement, few official details have been shared about the game's gameplay or narrative.
OD's survival contrasts with other titles hit by cuts during Xbox's recent restructuring, such as IO Interactive's Project Fantasy. Microsoft stated it is "not reducing its overall investment in games," suggesting it is prioritizing certain strategic projects within its portfolio.
