According to Eurogamer, Mortal Shell 2's open beta arrived as a surprise for players. Developer Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack made the test available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The beta lets players try the first three hours of the game for free. As reported by VGC, progress made during the beta carries over to the full launch.
Mortal Shell 2 has built significant anticipation ahead of release. Per Eurogamer, the game exceeded 500,000 downloads on Steam during development and its physical Revered Edition sold out on PS5.
The title is an action RPG with deconstructed soulslike mechanics. The full launch is coming to the same platforms.
