Marvel Rivals' next season 9.5 update will significantly shrink the game's storage footprint across all platforms. According to Eurogamer, the PC version will lose around 40 GB, cutting the file size by over 57%, while PS5 and Xbox players will see a reduction of roughly 15 GB, representing a 20% decrease from the current 73 GB footprint.
NetEase Games will achieve this through a new texture compression overhaul. The change tackles a persistent issue with live-service games: the ballooning install sizes as years of updates and new content stack up on players' drives.
The current 73 GB on PS5 and Xbox will drop to approximately 58 GB, while PC versions will shrink even more aggressively, freeing up crucial SSD space. The update also brings a new hero, The Hood, and new seasonal cosmetics, according to Destructoid.
Season 9.5 launches on August 7.
