The demo for Onimusha: Way of the Sword has been significantly expanded. According to the PlayStation Blog, the PS5 version received a 9.6 GB patch introducing new challenges, including two enemies named Ifuu and Burai in a previously unseen area of Edo-period Kyoto.
Capcom announced the expansion at Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live, also debuting a 30-second trailer showcasing Miyamoto Musashi facing these new opponents. The original demo launched in June 2026 following a State of Play presentation.
Beyond the PS5 expansion, AMD launched a bundle program offering a free PC key for Onimusha: Way of the Sword with purchases of Ryzen 7 X3D processors or Radeon RX 9070 graphics cards. The promotion is available globally but limited to the latest hardware models.
The full game launches on PlayStation 5 on September 4, 2026. On PS5, Musashi harnesses supernatural Oni powers in sword-based combat, with the protagonist's face modeled after cinema legend Toshiro Mifune.
