ConcernedApe updates Haunted Chocolatier progress and explains why he won't share screenshots

Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone shared a new update on Haunted Chocolatier's development, his project announced back in 2021. According to a post on his official blog, the creator of Stardew Valley is maintaining a meticulous process and prefers not to share screenshots or system details while the game is still in development.

"Please excuse me, but I don't like to share too many screenshots, or even talk about the systems in too much detail, while the game is in development," Barone explained. "Partly, it feels like I'm serving a half-baked bread. I would rather serve a fully baked bread." The developer also stressed that he is being very thoughtful about every aspect of the game, ensuring that elements the player interacts with frequently are "perfect", "seamless, clear, intuitive, satisfying, and aesthetic".

Barone acknowledged that development is taking longer than expected, partly because Haunted Chocolatier is a bigger project than Stardew Valley. Over the past five years, the developer has also dedicated effort to maintaining and improving his previous game, which remains extremely popular. The new message reaffirms he continues working on the title, but maintains his reserved communication strategy until the work is ready to be presented to the public.
