CD Projekt Red announced that The Witcher 3 Remastered, set to release on September 29, 2026, will feature work from community modders. According to Rock Paper Shotgun, the creator of the HD Reworked Project, one of the game's most popular graphics overhaul mods, was brought on by the developer to collaborate again on the project, mirroring their approach with the 2022 next-gen update.
The HD Reworked Project stands among the most downloaded mods in The Witcher 3's history. Per PC Gamer, the 2024 version has accumulated over 325,000 unique downloads (725,000 total), while the "OldGen" version from 2015 reached 1.7 million unique downloads (5.8 million total). The project restructures thousands of textures and models from the 2015 classic.
The hiring of modders for official work continues CD Projekt Red's strategy of engaging with the community. The Remastered will arrive as a free update for all game owners, and the company also announced that the Songs of the Past expansion will launch in the same timeframe.
