According to IGN, at Evo 2026, Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama and producer Shuhei Matsumoto spoke about the game's future. Three years after launch, the title remains strong with over 2,000 entrants at this year's Evo tournament and an active competitive online scene.
The pair confirmed there are no current plans for major system mechanic adjustments. Meanwhile, the fourth character pass continues development, bringing Tifa from Final Fantasy 7 for her fighting game debut alongside Arjun and Bosch. Tifa also marks the inclusion of a Filipino character in Street Fighter history.
Developers also discussed the future of single-player content now that regular World Tour mode updates have stopped. Details on the playstyles of the new characters were briefly teased during the Evo conversation.
