Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will feature recalibrated difficulty tuning compared to the base game. According to director Takuro Hiraoka in an interview at Tokyo Game Show 2026 with PC Gamer, Capcom's goal for the initial release was to avoid alienating newcomers, but the team is now working to satisfy veteran players who criticized its difficulty approach.
Player feedback was mixed: initially many felt Monster Hunter Wilds was too easy, but after updates that ramped up threat levels, complaints emerged about inelegant solutions like arbitrary increases to monster damage. Hiraoka indicated that Ascendance aims to refine this aspect in the expansion's endgame content.
The expansion also introduces the Boost Bracer, a new combat system that functions as an on-demand turbo mode. According to developers speaking with PC Gamer, the system adds extra speed and impact to move sets, bringing a more over-the-top action style to the 14-weapon arsenal. One of the producers predicted that Hammer should climb in popularity with its new moveset additions.
Ascendance was announced with the return of iconic creatures from the series. Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Switch 2 version confirmed running at 30fps.
