Xbox to publish OD, Hideo Kojima's horror game rejected by other major companies

OD, the upcoming horror game from Hideo Kojima, will be published by Xbox, the creator confirmed in a feature with Entertainment Weekly. According to Kojima, multiple major companies turned down the project before Xbox signed on. Kojima stated that representatives from these studios told him the concept was too unconventional. 'They said that I'm crazy,' Kojima recalled. OD is being co-written by Jordan Peele, known for the film Get Out, and will star Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and posthumously feature Udo Kier. While early promotional materials may suggest a standard horror experience, Kojima has emphasized that OD is something entirely different, positioned as a title unlike anything audiences have encountered before. The project was initially announced in 2022, with a teaser trailer released in 2025. Development continues with Xbox now backing the publication.
